A Summer Built for Paws
Dogs arrive at Altamarea with a proud stride and a tail held high. They seem to already know that a little paradise awaits them here, one built just for them. Big ones, small ones, timid ones curled up in their owner’s arms, or bold ones tugging at the leash to get there faster. Here, every dog is welcome. They get to enjoy the summer alongside their family in a space designed with them in mind: the Bau Beach.
Dogs relax under the umbrella, roll happily in the sand, and soak up the sun beside their companions. Like Olimpo, a five-year-old Maltese, a guest at the Bau Beach for a few days. He spent a good part of the afternoon stretched out at full length on his mum’s sunbed, while she was having fun with the children in the pool nearby. His dad, on the sunbed beside him, was happily lost in a good book. “Olimpo doesn’t really get along with other dogs, so this works out perfectly. He has a great time and so do we,” his owner explains. For the family, bringing little Olimpo on holiday was non-negotiable, so they did not hesitate for a moment to book at the Bau Beach. “We are very happy,” they say, stroking their little dog.

Fresh water bowls always topped up, dedicated showers, toys, and one more surprise: the Bau Garden, a shaded and well-kept garden just a few steps from the beach, open to all. Here, dogs can run free and play together. A green space, perfect during the hottest hours of the day or for a peaceful stroll at the end of the afternoon. “How lovely!” exclaim Ciuchino’s owners, bright and smiling. “We’ll take him for a spin later!” They have just arrived at the Bau Beach and are already won over. “We feel so much more at ease knowing other dogs can’t come up to him, and off the leash he is so much freer. He has everything he needs here, and so do we. We are happy!” says the couple, clearly head over heels for their little dog. Ciuchino digs in the sand, leaps from one sunbed to the next, and never misses a chance to cuddle his humans.

At Altamarea, every day is dedicated to dogs, but Fridays have a special flavour of their own: that is when Riccardo arrives with his team of canine educators from the centre “Io mi fido di te” (“I trust you”). The little square is always packed with owners, dogs and curious onlookers. It is a moment for advice and conversation about improving the bond between dog and human, about behaviour, and about all things dog-related, always with a light touch and plenty of humour.
Altamarea welcomes, listens to, and respects every guest, and our four-legged friends, with sand between their paws and sunshine on their snouts, get to soak up the summer right alongside us.
