A Summer of Colors
One thing is certain: Altamarea is full of surprises. Each morning, near the yellow reception desk, the moment is set. Daniela, radiant and adored by the children, arrives with a head full of ideas before dozens of eager little ones ready to get to work. Daniela’s creative workshops are no mere pastime: they are a genuine journey into the imagination, where every child becomes a protagonist, an artist and a listener. These moments have now become an unmissable fixture for the families who come to Altamarea.

Daniela’s magic begins with a story. Today it is a tale about bees. But her words are not just words: they are images, sounds, emotions that float through the air and land on the children, a little like a bee. Not only are the children more attentive than they have ever been, but they also learn so many things, as when Daniela explains: “…around a hundred flowers per flight. Did you know that worker bees go out an average of ten times a day? So a hundred flowers per flight, times ten, what does that come to?”
In her hands she holds a small wooden crate, whose base she has painted to illustrate the day’s story. The children are captivated, and even the adults passing through Altamarea turn to watch her, with a look that is somewhere between admiration and delight.
The bees she speaks of are not merely insects: they become symbols of cooperation, of kindness, of nature working in harmony. And from there, the day’s creative activity is born. After the story, an explosion of colors, materials, paper, glue, brushes and dreams. The children begin to build with their own hands what they have just imagined: a smiling bee with delicate wings, colorful flowers. Each creation is unique, just like the focused gaze of the one making it. They have even made candles from beeswax!

On other days, they create nameplates for their bedrooms, mandalas with sea fossils, paintings and works of art made from shells and little pieces of driftwood gathered on the beach. How wonderful is this space where creativity becomes learning, where fun and discovery are intertwined, where children learn by listening, doing and sharing. Every activity is designed to nurture emotional intelligence, manual skills and active listening.
And it all unfolds in a serene setting, surrounded by lush greenery, the scent of the sea, and the attentive presence of someone who understands just how important it is to nurture a child’s sense of wonder.
This is Altamarea: every morning is a small journey into everyone’s imagination.
