From ten in the morning, the celebration begins at Altamarea for a truly special summer day: the 15th of August, Ferragosto, the height of summer. The beach is dressed in magic from every corner, drawing holidaymakers into the world of Wonderland. A grand celebration prepared well in advance by Altamarea’s staff and entertainment team. The beach becomes, for one day, a true Wonderland.

The children become the stars of a waking dream, parading along the beach dressed as characters from Alice in Wonderland. Proud of their colourful costumes and themed face paint, they walk with a wide smile under the curious and delighted eyes of the holidaymakers who cheer them on as they pass. Parents follow the procession, phones in hand to capture this little moment of glory. Marching proudly, to music and cries of joy, the children share their good spirits and the festive mood spreads across the entire beach.

Throughout the day, every detail is an invitation to dream. The croquet game with a flamingo, just like in Alice’s adventures, is a hit with the little ones, but perhaps even more so with the adults. Flamingo in hand, they do their best to win the match. For some it is victory, fists in the air, one mum is over the moon! For others it is defeat, so they do their best to be gracious losers before settling at the bar to console themselves with a spritz and assess the competition. Every move is commentated by Alessandro as though it were the most important match in the world, somewhere between tension and shared humour.

In the afternoon, the entertainment square is completely transformed and catches everyone’s eye: an explosion of giant flowers, colors and magic floods Altamarea, thanks to the work of the Fiori Scenografici team. At the heart of this fairytale setting, two blue sunbeds sit proudly, waiting for the photographs of all those who wish to travel into a dream for just a moment.

And it works: within minutes, the square fills with curious onlookers who come to admire the decor and have their picture taken. Friends, couples, families and children take turns on the sunbeds or pose in front of the enormous flowers. The setting is a hit and “wow”s of surprise and admiration can be heard from every direction, surely filling the hearts of all those who worked so hard to bring a smile to the faces of the beach’s guests.

In the evening, children, teenagers and adults dance together and the celebration reaches its peak, where every dance step becomes a small memory to treasure.

And so, Altamarea will be remembered as a beach suspended between reality and imagination.
