The Memory Box
What if we imagined Altamarea as a great memory box? A beautiful blue box, the color of the beach umbrellas, holding within it every memory of every summer. It opens with the first umbrella put up and fills slowly, day by day, under the sun. A box that everyone can open during the year to breathe in a little sunshine, warm sand and salt water, especially in the heart of winter. An immense box, brimming with laughter by the pool, relaxation in the jacuzzi and dance steps on the entertainment square.

When you open this box, you would hear the music of Baby Shark, bringing back the unmissable afternoon moment when the children let loose, laughing and dancing. You would catch the unmistakable scent of sun cream and feel with your fingertips a little warm sand, soft, grainy and so pleasant as it slips through hands still cold from a winter that seems to go on forever. You would see colors: an intense yellow to bring back the midday sun warming the sea, bodies and hearts. And then the blue, the blue of the sea, of the horizon observed from a sunbed, from a table at Bar Africo or from the pool. You would see every shade that each summer sunset gives us.
And then we could sink into the memories: the late-night beach volleyball match we almost won, the piadina tournament we lost but thoroughly enjoyed, the Bulgarian dance evening that made us want to discover that country, or the cinema night shared as a family, the card tournaments, the dance evenings with the entertainers, the treasure hunt for the children, that time we made strozzapreti together, or the moments of complicity with our dog during the sessions with the canine educator.

Opening this box, what we would remember above all is how we felt: we would remember that joy, that freedom, that energy, that tranquillity, that gratitude. We would remember the encounters and the friendships just beginning to bloom, we would remember all that good humour and tell ourselves that we cannot wait to come back to Altamarea, in a few months, in a few weeks, and finally in just a few days, to live it all over again and fill our memory box with experiences even more beautiful than before.
And you, what memory would you put in our box?
