When Summer Becomes a Memory
It was inevitable. We had felt it creeping closer for days, and here it finally is: the back-to-school month, the month of transition, of good intentions, of fresh starts, the month when summer officially ends. September.
But against the blues of this month we spent all summer pretending not to see coming, Altamarea is always here: Monday the 1st of September, gloom and hot chocolate? Absolutely not! An oriental evening with belly dancing and group dancing at Altamarea, to celebrate summer right down to the last moment. And on this first day of September, as every other evening, the entertainment square filled with warm applause and genuine smiles.

In this first week of September, Altamarea has a rhythm all of its own. After the explosive energy of July and August, the calm arrives. These gentle days invite rest and reflection. On the beach, September’s loyal regulars savour this quieter atmosphere.
But the afternoon entertainment for the children, still numerous, continues to bring the beach to life, as when the “pirates” landed to organise a treasure hunt that shook Altamarea from one end to the other, or during the card and table football tournaments.

It is fascinating to observe this transition, made up of small contrasts. Little by little, the entertainment and the evening events come to an end, yet holidaymakers keep arriving, and at the same time talk turns to the closing, to what will come next, and already to the summer ahead. On one hand, there are still sunny days and swims in the sea; on the other, the evenings grow shorter and the morning air a little fresher. The perfect moment to reflect on the most beautiful things experienced during the summer and turn those memories into a gentle warmth for the cooler days waiting just around the corner.
After all, summer does not leave all at once, from one day to the next. It ends slowly, like a wave drawing back. September is not sad. It has to come to help us start again at our best.
